Nugzar Kakhiani
Nugzar Kakhiani was born in Georgia and studied art at the Nikoladze Art College and the Mukhina Institute in St. Petersburg - Russia. He started out as a sculptor of metal art, some of his sculptures are kept by the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

However, he developed as an oil painter since working from his studio in St. Petersburg many years ago. He is today a very famous oil painter in Russia, much appreciated by art lovers.

His works of art, either his impressive characteristic landscapes or the semi-classical theater performances, all have that specific incidence of light and are all very, very colorful. The everyday problems are elevated and made into a special event, involving different characters.

Art viewers are invited to enter today's fairy tale and explore what happened before and fantasize about what could happen further down the road. Each in his own way. Contradictions can also be found in his works of art, but they are indeed all very complementary.

The central themes of his works, the colorful palette and the very specific positive atmosphere created by the appearance of cheerful characters on the canvas, make it easy for art lovers to embrace the work. This escape from the real world into a fantastic, newly created reality may well be the artist's reactive response to his own situation.

In several works classical women from Greek mythology are central to his work, but then placed in a different time zone. Symbolism is included in his works as well as in some comics, although very subtly. He always seems to be successful, his works of art exude cheerfulness, warm feelings and optimism.

The technique used is very special and is mainly created by using the knife.

It is abundantly clear that the Russian art public rightly calls him a 'maestro'. He was awarded Artist of the Year in Russia, an award he shared with the musician Rastropovich.

Art critics in Russia, including the Senior Curator of the Hermitage Museum, regularly publish rave reviews.

Nugzar Kakhiani was barely known in Europe and the United States of America, but that has changed a lot in recent years. Some works of art are included in art books published by First Class editions, being 'European Art Developments' and 'International Art Vision'.

His works of art are still not too expensive, although prices have risen in the last 2 years since its introduction in the West. His works have great potential and will undoubtedly rise in the coming years, given the emerging international demand.
