Merab Gagiladze
Georgian artist Merab Gagiladze was born in Tbilisi.
In 1987, he started his formal art education at the Tbilisi College of Art, School of Ceramics.

In 1990 he continued his studies at the prestigious State Academy of Fine Arts of Tbilisi and graduated in 1996 with a degree in Graphic Art.

His works have been exhibited in numerous collection exhibitions in galleries throughout his native Georgia, as well as in England, Ireland, France and the United States.
Merab's artwork reflects the beauty and variety of life. It conveys the joys, sorrows and dreams of an ordinary man.

The artist draws his unique characters from history, mythology and religion. He often uses symbolism to enrich the content of his artworks; beautiful and subtle ornaments add elegance and light to his remarkable paintings. Complex textures, tones and compositions reveal a technical sophistication and an expansive imagination.

His artistic career has taken him to America, England, Ireland and France.
An excellent draftsman and colourist, he reinterprets the stories and legends of his country so richly infused with European and Eastern cultures.
His work takes the viewer on an imaginary journey populated by characters who convey a message at the intersection between reality and dream.
