Ditty Ketting
Ditty Ketting's paintings do not refer to observations in reality. They are standalone compositions carefully calculated in advance with a built-in ability to question that calculation. The unpredictable variability of the effect of colors in relation to each other offers her the freedom to let the mastery of her talent run wild. Every framework it sets itself is to escape it.

It seems to contradict that freedom of imagination in precise care. Ditty Ketting is about that careful way of working in which every personal handwriting is concealed – you don't see any recognizable brushstrokes or underdrawings that shine through – in which she uses a ruler, drawing pen and brush. She judges by eye and her feeling whether the painting has that material intensity and radiation that is decisive for its quality.

Each painting is preceded by a sketch, a composition study in which she has carefully thought out the entire process of the painting. They are each other in series of successive areas of color in certain color tones in which she places certain interruptions in advance that introduce in an indeterminate white caesuras, or musically speaking 'rest', which interrupt the rhythm. The degree of peace and quiet in her work determines its persuasiveness. It is about how she manages to capture polyphony in coherent compositions in which all inequality has been removed. Her paintings are a defense against powerlessness, arbitrariness and abuse of power. In fact, there is no language for her work, you can only experience it while watching. What you think dissolves in what you see.
